What is QiGong?

Put simply, QiGong is a series of coordinated slow movements which strengthen the body and promotes health and maybe even longevity. It is an ancient practice which origins dates back thousands of years in China and which has many ‘branches’ today. From dynamic to meditative practices, there are many ways to practice and enjoy.

I’m obviously not an expert and I won’t write a dissertation on all the QiGong philosophies.

Yet, the idea that such a practice cultivates and balances life-force is compelling to me but really, I’m just here to enjoy!

My QiGong experience

I started my QiGong journey with the lymphatic flow practice linked below.

After driving for hours, I used to feel stuck and bloated, so I started doing these simple exercises and they have helped tremendously. I can often feel ‘space’ under my armpits after only 7minutes!

Based on this, I explored LuChin YouTube channel further and now often practice the ‘Ten minutes to start your day’ linked below.

They are easy practices, and they make me feel good!

When I started and for the first couple times, I was very focused on counting or performing the movements correctly and this prevented me from fully enjoying.

Now is different. I’m much more focused on my breathing and on my body feels.

Now I feel more peaceful and more energised.

Now I’m also ready to explore more videos!

Health is complicated but not every solution has to be

In my quest to be a healthier me, I try to incorporated as many simple solutions as possible.

I recently told you about my quest to increase my HRV and how something as simple as camomile tea has helped.

It is somehow the same with QiGong. Simple, free, easy to practice almost anywhere, no equipment required. It checks all my boxes and maybe yours!

That’s it. That’s all I wanted to share with you today. Short but useful I hope!
